This post was almost worth more than a thousand words

Day two at work. Really settling into the swing of things now. You barely notice me. Except when they throw minor curve balls at me, such as today at lunch: the entree included a whole, fried fish, approximately 5 inches long, complete with head, scales, tail, etc. The only utensil offered was a spoon. I surreptitiously watched others neatly mince their way through before tackling it with my fingertips. Tasty, if a little crunchy...but that's probably my own inferior bone-removal skills. On the upside, I don't think I'll forget the word for fish ("semake").

Further planning for the Dodoma adventures, reading through various Minisitry of Health publications and working with Victor on his list of questions for the focus group sessions and interviews. Thanks to my time doing research interviewing at the NIH, this afternoon actually felt vaguely familiar. It was a comforting sensation and gave me the possibly correct, possibly erroneous notion that I'll be able to contribute something of use.

But enough of this chit chat. It's time for pictures! If I can figure them out!

(30 minutes later)

This computer is apparently having none of my upload attempts. Expect a Picasa link with the next post.
